By Aydan Corkern

Have you ever worried about your computer being damaged by some unforeseen circumstance? Anyone who uses their computer on a daily basis, whether it is a laptop or desktop, could almost have a stroke just thinking about it. For those of us who use these marvelous inventions to keep track of so much of our lives, both business and other wise, could become almost paralyzed in the way we are able to function and carry out certain details of our business if the computer suddenly stopped working.

We keep all kinds of files, addresses, email contacts, phone number, business associates, clients, and a hundred other things that would be devastating to lose. Smart computer users know how important it is to keep files and other things backed up on a disk just in case our computer crashes or is damaged some other way. This ensures that when and if we have to invest in another system, we will have the information we need to reinstall into it.

The best way to avoid having your desktop or laptop damaged it to protect is at all times. Traveling around with a laptop can invite all sorts of things to happen to it. It can be more susceptible to getting wet, lost, stolen, or damaged. A desk top might not be as at risk for these things, but we still need to use care.

Keep liquids like water away from your laptop or desktop. It can cause them to short out and be destroyed. Water might not be as bad as other liquids, but there is no guarantee that they can be repaired even when only wet by water. The safest way to ensure your laptop or computer does not have lightning run in on it is to unplug it during an electrical storm. You might have you're your computer plugged into a surge protector, but even this is not always fool proof. It is better to be safe than sorry.

If your home has a sprinkler system that comes on if there is smoke or a fire, keep your desktop or laptop covered to keep it from be exposed to the water. Sprinklers have been known to go off by accident and it is better to be safe than sorry. A water proof covering on your laptop or desktop will also keep dust from settling on it and the keyboard.

If you take our laptop along in your car, lock it inside your trunk if you leave it in the vehicle. Nothing will invite a thief faster than to leave a valuable item out in the open even if you lock the car. If you take care of your computer well, chances are it will continue to help keep your life in order.
