Getting married could not be more special or dreamlike than it sounds. More couples are opting for this rather than getting married on their own turf, having seen how much can be gained from celebrating on a dreamlike location. Beach weddings are a popular place for ceremonies to take place, especially in places like the Caribbean resort where there is a yearlong sunshine and warm weather, and beaches are picturesque.

The Caribbean resort is a popular holiday destination for many people, including families. This is an ideal location for weddings, anniversary celebrations or honeymoons. Those who have experienced the joys of getting married on one of the Caribbean resort islands will know that this can easily double up as a honeymoon, saving money on paying extra for a separate trip. However, most people will not know what steps to take when organising a wedding in unfamiliar territories.

However, like many weddings there are few guidelines that people would need to adhere to when going ahead to organise a trip of this kind. Organising weddings in one's home territory is just as stressful without having to organise this in another country. There are a few questions that people will ask that will place doubt in the validity of the ceremony, such as whether the couple need to show documentation prior to getting married? If they are not British citizens do they need to show valid documents and apply for specific documentation before getting married?

One thing about organising sufficient documentation is that not all places need to see your paperwork. Those with documentation will need to have sent photocopies at least 10 weeks before the wedding date. However, it may be a good idea to enquire about this prior to flying out. If you are not a British citizen then you will have to contact the Embassy of the country you want to travel to. Some documents may need to be translated into the local dialect of your chosen country, again have this ready and completed prior to leaving.

The next question will be where to get married. As mentioned before, the Caribbean resort is just one place that offers stunning beaches and a consistently warm climate. Some hotels in the resort may offer their own grounds for a ceremony to take place, rather than finding a separate venue - again this is something couple will need to research upon.

The date of the wedding is usually before travelling up so make sure that the date you pick is the final date, because there will be no room for changes. It might be a good idea to find out what days are the most suitable, for example weekends may be a bad time for some countries, and however weekdays may be a good time for booking venues.

In some countries the marriage certificate may take between 1 to 6 months to process. In this case it is possible to have your solicitor to arrange for the paperwork to be sent to you in the UK, rather than having to wait for the organisation to post it to you.
