Quality Service is the Way to Make Your Small Business Succeed

By Tom Greaves

Starting up a new small business can be very exciting, however it also involves tremendous amounts of risk. Many new start up businesses fail simply because they cannot get the funding they require, others make the mistake of thinking a small business can only provide a sub standard service, this is fundamentally wrong, in order to give your new business the maximum momentum, you must concentrate on giving quality service.

I am sure none of us are strangers to sub standard service, staff that seem to have a lack of knowledge, compassion and sometimes basic people skills. We all must have experienced delayed services, faulty goods, slow service and an inadequate remedy? These are very simple examples of the kind of poor service we receive everyday, all around us.

Because of the lack of quality in the modern customer service industry companies are getting huge recognition for simply doing what they have promised, imagine in your new small business if you were exceeding expectations? If you use your new business to really deliver an excellent service, exceed the customers expectations, then you should have no trouble taking business from the bigger players in the industry. Look to raise the service bar at any given opportunity, there is absolutely no reason to settle, your business maybe smaller than your competitors but this is no reason to offer "small service".

Imagine for a moment, a world where your broadband is always functioning and even when it goes wrong you can speak to some one immediately who will solve your problem. Imagine going to a restaurant, receiving great quality food and feeling like you have really been looked after, all the time every time. If your business created this sort of atmosphere for your clients guess which would become their preferred choice, how fast do you think word of mouth business would arrive at your door step? Quality goes a lot further than any marketing campaign will ever do.

So you have your new business up and running, your first two clients are ready to buy a product, agree a contract, whatever. Think in detail about how you can make their experience a pleasant one from start to finish. How can you assist the transaction and ensure it goes smoothly? How can you deliver the service faster and with more quality? How are you going to receive feedback after the sale and ensure your client is heading your way again? Consider these things and you will have no problem growing your small business and retaining custom.
