Employee Satisfaction - Know What Your Employees Think of You and the Company
By Kim Page
Employee satisfaction surveys are a great way to keep tabs on how employees are working, what they think about the company, how they feel about management (i.e. you) and other areas of their careers. While you actually giving out these tests might look a little nosy and self-serving, you can find a third-party service to deliver these types of surveys during the performance management or strategic planning process so that they can get a feel of where people stand before they start identifying changes that need to be made to the company. No matter what business you're in, it always makes things easier if the employees are satisfied. By taking the time to see how your employees feel, you might be able to make great improvements to your operations.
Employee satisfaction should be a top priority, but not if it's going to jeopardize the success of your company. People should be able to appreciate their jobs, enjoy what they do, and feel good about how they contribute. They should get along with management and feel the need to strive for excellence in everything that they do. However, some employees will take advantage of this and create a situation where they are not happy regardless of what takes place. If you run into this situation, you need to know how to identify it so you can move on with success in mind and create employees that aren't going to stir the pot.
When you're trying to monitor things like employee satisfaction and happiness, you won't be able to do it all on your own. That might seem like an effective solution at first, but it will truly be beneficial to you to hire outside services to conduct surveys, test performance, and work with coaching and training where it is needed so that everyone is up to par and on track for a successful future. It's not hard to find these professional services, and the outside perspective can make a huge impact on the success of your business goals and planning.
These are all important things to keep in mind. Employee satisfaction is something that you want to check on periodically, but you don't want to make it appear to be self-serving by any means. Make sure you can trust that your employees are performing and being appreciated and engaged like they should be to have a more successful future with your company.
