Breast Feeding Clothing - Convenience As Well As Presentability
By Eddie Lamb
Women who travel have in the past found it quite difficult to breastfeed their babies - more so when the traveling involved movement and exposure in public places. Long ago it was not uncommon for aristocratic families to travel with a wet nanny (a nanny who could breastfeed) for this purpose. The wet nanny was also a common occurrence when the mother was not present or alive and there was an infant to be nurtured.
It is important to remember however that buying breastfeeding clothing is quite different from buying regular clothing; for instance, unlike some clothing, the breastfeeding garment will be worn and washed more frequently, and it will also be tugged and pulled at while your child is nursing.
The Breast Milk Substitute Takes The World by Storm
The demand for breast milk substitutes prompted the manufacturing of milk powders and formulas for babies, which found instant acceptance worldwide because of the immense convenience it offered mothers - more so working mothers. Gradually, the milk substitutes became so popular that it required a massive campaign to 'teach' the mothers the benefits of their breast milk and have them reconsider wherever possible not to stop breast feeding their babies.
Breast Feeding Clothing - A New Market Demand
The popularity of the breast feeding brought back the problem of exposure while traveling and in public places. Women found it extremely difficult and embarrassing to breastfeed their babies in metros, buses, taxies, trains and so on without having people staring.
The demand brought about the manufacturing of a new product which again took the market by storm - breast feeding clothing. This breast feeding clothing had the dresses, T-shirts and the bras open front in such a way that one could breastfeed the baby without any inconvenience and undue exposure. This type of clothing helped women move freely with their babies while being able to breastfeed them whenever needed.
Lactating mothers now had an alternative and they took to it with great gusto. This brought in another great product related to breast feeding clothing, i.e. designer breast feeding clothing which combined great looks with utility. In this way the woman felt as feminine as she wanted while still being able to perform her duties as a mother.
Initially such specialized clothing was available only major shopping malls. However, with the popularization of the Internet women could buy breast feeding clothing at the click of the mouse from the convenience of their homes. The cost for such clothing is becoming very reasonable, it became a common feature in every home - and the babies all over the world are happier and supposedly healthier.
